About James

A completely unexpected success, James has captured the hearts of people from all over the world. These fleshy little guys were the product of a playing around with polymer clay and making some creatures for fun. While doing demonstrations on stage as part of the Wētā workshop tour I had them at my workstation and so many people asked if I was selling them that I decided to do so.
I started selling them at craft markets and then the Wētā cave gift shop, making each James by hand. Then when I started struggling to keep up with demand I made 5 silicone moulds of different designs and now cast each James in Polyurethane resin. I still cast, finish and paint them all by hand. The James design has started expanding across other products now too including stickers, dice and many other items I plan to produce in the future.
With that has also come the introduction of social media content and I have been enjoying building the world of James through short animations, videos and artwork. I also still make the occasional ‘bespoke James’ when inspiration strikes me.
Watch this space… the cult of James is growing.
